Indian households treat most everyday illness themselves. We ran 25 questions across five categories with live web search, then recorded every organization named and every source cited. The run produced 375 citations from 180 domains.
A pharmacy chain leads. Apollo Pharmacy scores 31.2 percent, named on 14 of the 25 questions, ahead of Dabur on 16.8 and Himalaya on 11.2. The drug regulator ranks sixth, the first time in this series it has not led.
One retailer supplies 56 of the 375 citations, the heaviest concentration we have measured. Seven of the products engines recommend for self care are prescription medicines, and the questions engines answer worst are the ones about children.

Engines name a cold tablet whose original formulation was banned in 2011, when phenylpropanolamine was withdrawn, and whose Extra version was discontinued in 2016. Current listings are for a reformulated product. Every one of the five ranked here is a multi drug combination.
